3D angle decomposition for elastic reverse time migration
نویسنده
چکیده
We propose 3D angle decomposition methods from elastic reverse time migration using timeand space-lag common image point gathers, time-lag common image gathers, and space-lag common image gathers computed by elastic wavefield migration. We compute time-lag common image gathers at multiple contiguous locations, instead of isolated positions as is commonly done with common image gathers. Then, we transform the extended images to the angle domain using slant stacks along surfaces that connect neighboring positions, instead of line slant stacks for isolated common image gathers. We demonstrate our methods using 2D and 3D synthetic examples and show that our techniques provide accurate opening and azimuth angles, and that they can handle steeply dipping reflectors and converted wave modes.

Scalar imaging condition for elastic reverse time migration
Polarity changes in converted-wave images constructed by elastic reverse time migration cause destructive interference after stacking over the experiments of a seismic survey. This polarity reversal is due to PS and SP reflectivities reversing sign at certain incidence angles, e.g., at normal incidence in isotropic media. Many of the available polarity correction methods are complex and require...
متن کامل3D angle gathers from reverse time migration
Common-image gathers are an important output of prestack depth migration. They provide information needed for velocity model building and amplitude and phase information for subsurface attribute interpretation. Conventionally, common-image gathers are computed using Kirchhoff migration on commonoffset/azimuth data volumes. When geologic structures are complex and strong contrasts exist in the v...
متن کاملElastic least-squares reverse time migration using the energy norm
We derive linearized modeling and migration operators based on the energy norm for elastic wavefields in arbitrary anisotropic media. We use these operators to perform anisotropic least-squares reverse time migration (LSRTM) and generate a scalar image that represents subsurface reflectivity without costly decomposition of wave modes. Imaging operators based on the energy norm have the advantag...

Multicomponent data are not usually processed with specifically designed procedures, but with procedures analogous to the ones used for single-component data. In isotropic media, the vertical and horizontal components of the data are commonly taken as proxies for the Pand S-wave modes which are imaged independently with acoustic wave equations. This procedure works only if the vertical and hori...
